Dr. Beverly Yuen Thompson is an Associate Professor and Chair of Sociology at Siena College in Loudonville, New York. She teaches the course Family Sociology, Deviant Behavior, and The Drug War. She has taught Analyzing Reality Television, Sociology of Documentary Filmmaking, and Sociological Perspectives. She earned an MA and Ph.D. in Sociology from The New School in New York City. She earned a Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies at San Diego State University. She has taught at Florida International University in Miami as well as Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Dr. Thompson’s current research examines drug policy in the U.S., Latin America and the Carribbean, specifically marijuana legalization and its social impacts.
